Book review -Cometh the Hour: Clifton chronicles #6

Cometh the Hour (The Clifton Chronicles, #6)Cometh the Hour by Jeffrey Archer

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The penultimate book in the series of the Clifton-Barrington families, ‘Cometh the Hour’ is a genuinely pleasing work by Archer starting off with Major’s suicide note scene of book #5. The yarn spinning in this book, had been meticulously planned for each important character to have his/her own stage in the book for the concerned chapters. Giles-Karin plot was an endearing attempt with its own appended quirks. Lady Virginia proved yet again to be the most despicable character one would ever come across in any fiction. The most captivating plotline for this book shall be awarded to the one with Seb. His romantic war for his love, Priya took on an interesting combo for reading. His fight for his chairman Hakim, the legal procedures were neatly etched by Archer’s word-craft. Bad guys who entered the story line in replacement for Major Fisher, were offering a good read too. Last but not the least, Harry-Emma, both seemed to have their own subplots. Harry did not have any particularly important plotline except the one with his mother and the one with Babakov’s release, which only came to the pages around the end. Emma becomes super cool, reaching heights of positions in almost all fields she laid foot. Her subtle dealing with the Maple Leaf ship, is what I am struck by. Cannot wait to see where that’ll lead to.

Book review of Keepers of the Kalachakra

Keepers of the KalachakraKeepers of the Kalachakra by Ashwin Sanghi
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book could be called the crown of Ashwin’s works. Intense research had been poured into the building up of this masterpiece of a work. Stunning compilation of scientific and religious revelations that made me fall headlong into this ride. The last hundred pages seemed to go on a roller coaster that has just been left to run wildly on its own. I loved the detailing of many concepts varying from quantum dualities to tantric practices in religions have been handled efficiently by the author. I’ve read all of his books and surely this one is a stand off!!

Book review: The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

The Kite RunnerThe Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The kite runner can be aptly called a realistic journey in the form of words. I can’t bring myself to call it a book, I feel the word gets its shine diluted. It had been wonderfully written with impeccable and pedantic words and expressions. So many things unaware about the lifestyle of Afghanistan have been unearthed in this one-of-a-kind novel. Oh! my God, the characters. I was living with them throughout the book. Khlaed Hosseini is definitely a gifted writer and a story teller; and he knows very well as to which string to pull to make the reader’s heart leap up with whatever emotion he wished to surface in them. This book is a literary experience, to say the least.

The Medley

A slow change in the forlorn sky, Wheremammoth of clouds swings by; Thegentle caress of evening breeze, Deepestrecess of the soul rendered to freeze.

A dull dusk lends its wavering arm,
Mellows my heart to take a new form;
A doubtful tree, shaking off its leaves,
The gloomy soil, sings the blues and grieves.

The lake and pond stand so still,
Have water, the sense to feel the chill?
So serene is the path ahead,
The unmown lawn become the perfect bed.

Then began the medley of Her orchestra,
Rumbling, roaring thunder, an intimidating extra;
Lit up was the sky with silent, shrieking bolts,
Torn up were the clouds, forbade eyes from visible jolts.

Masterpiece portrait shies away,
By Her eerie demeanor!
Tranquil piano shuns away,
By Her steely armor!

A relentless ruler, she reigns anything and all,
Dutifully bowed down, are we, until Her fall;
Blooming and withering as she pleases, is her norm,
Giving and taking is her play, Her Majesty’s the Storm!
